How do I condense my timeline chart for printing?

Frequently Asked Questions

There are several ways to adjust your timeline to reduce the width:

  1. Use fewer event rows. Event rows are very “expensive” as far as vertical height is concerned. For printing timelines on normal paper sizes, one or two rows usually works best. If you have more categories of events, consider using color to distinguish them instead of separate rows.

  2. Make the font size, image size, and row foundation height smaller.

  3. Simplify the events in the crowded areas of your timeline by removing images and notes.

  4. Create more vertical space by choosing a portrait page orientation or a larger paper size.
