How to set BC dates

Need to chart history thousands of years ago?

Bee Docs Timeline is capable of charting events back to about 1,000,000 BC. Here is how you can create a timeline of dates in the distant past:

Timeline with Shang Dynasty event that spans from 1,600 BC to 1,027 BC

Step 1 - Select events that will be using a BC date

Select any existing events that should have a BC date. If you are starting a new timeline that has no existing events, this step is not required.

Step 2 - Choose an Event Date Format that displays an Era

Using the Dates tab in the Settings panel, select an Era format that you would like to use. For example, “BC / AD.” You may also wish to set the date popup menu so that only year is showing.

Step 3 - Enter dates for your events

Add a new event to your timeline or double click an event to enter edit mode. Enter a start date for your event. Type the date using the same format that you selected in the formatting popup menus. For example, if you selected “2007” for the Date format and “B.C.E. / C.E.” as the Era format, then a valid date entry would be “500 B.C.E.”

That’s it!
